Korea Launches "One-Month Ultra-Fast Examination" for AI and Advanced Bio Startups

The Korea IP Administration (KIPO) has created a dedicated ultra-fast examination track for early-stage AI and advanced bio startups, effective February 23, 2026. Startups in these fields can receive patent examination results within one month.
How Much Faster
- Standard examination 14.7 months, preferential examination 2.1 months → shortened to within one month
- 2,000 cases per year provided for each of the two fields, AI and advanced bio
Who Can Apply
- Even early-stage startups with no export record can apply for the "Export-Promotion Ultra-Fast Examination" (relaxed requirements)
- Early rights acquisition supports investment attraction and commercialization
