On the Reissuance of Japanese Patent Certificates (Registration Certificates)
In Korea, when a patent, trademark, or design is transferred to another person (or another legal entity), the patent certificate (registration certificate) is reissued in the name of the new right holder—that is, the current right holder.
In Japan, however, even when a right is transferred, the certificate is reissued only in the name of the originally registered right holder.
It would certainly be nice for the new assignee to have a registration certificate or patent certificate bearing their own name—but I myself do not know why Japan handles it this way.
If the opportunity arises someday, I intend to ask the people at the Japan Patent Office about it.
